New Kids on the Bayou

Alright, let’s start off with a little background. Matthew and I got married 4 years ago (Wow!) and have been living in Starkville, MS finishing up our studies at Mississippi State University (Go Dawgs!). Matthew, who you can now refer to as Dr. Alford, took a job making the big bucks at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA (yes LT, that is Hammond with a “d”). For those of you who got jokes, no he cannot write you a prescription, he is Ph.D., not M.D. Anyway, we are just getting settled here in our apartment. We have very few neighbors as the complex is recently been selling and leasing units. So, it is quiet and a little lonely for me as I look for a job in slow motion (I am being picky). I know one person on campus (the aunt of a friend) and the on-site manager of the apartment complex. And. . . that’s it. My closest friends right now are all receptionists and cashiers at various establishments I am doing business with lately. Do you know how difficult and it is to move to a new place?Allow me to vent a bit. I need to find the following: Dentist, Optometrist, Pharmacist, Veterinarian, Insurance Agent, Financial Counselor, Hair Dresser, Church, and Pedicurist (?). And that is just what I can recall right this moment. I mean I have to look up these places in the phone book, (websites score BIG with me right now) and then go check it out before I agree to do business. I can’t trust just anyone! I know, I really have it rough, don't I? Even though I have no job now, I feel like I need a family secretary. I could really use a personal assistant these days. Remember Mr. Pitt on Seinfeld? I would be much nicer. Anyone interested? Salary commensurate with experience.
I also want to mention that Matthew and I will be traveling down the road to see MSU play Tulane tomorrow. I do love the Bulldogs, but I am also planning on eating a beignet from the legendary Cafe Du Monde . Hopefully both will not be a disappointment.

YESSSSSSSSS!!! yes, yes, YES!! You have no idea how excited I am that you have a blog. I miss you like crazy and I can totally relate to your stories of life in a new place.

I noticed you put finding a dentist as top priority, above insurance and church even. You always have had wonderful teeth. Now I see why. Just make sure you choose a dentist that did not convert to Judaism for the jokes. This happened to me once and I have since been labeled as "a rabid anti-dentite".
